Obesity in America

Recent statistics tells that America is the the most obese country in the world (http://www.nationmaster.com/graph/hea_obe-health-obesity). The second obese country is Mexico.

Most Americans are decendents of European immigrants, so they are ethinically the same as the Europeans. Likewase, Mexicans are ethinically the same as Latin Americans. Then, how come Americans and Mexicans are much obese than the Europeans and Latin Americans?

The culprit is a High-Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS).

Unlike European countries and Latin America, America and Mexico use HFCS in soft drinks (Coke, Pepsi, etc.) and snacks. The HFCS and cane sugar are NOT biochemically identical. The HFCS does not processed the same way by the body as the cane sugar because the HFCS is an industrial food product, far from natural or naturally occurring substance. Clinical studies prove that the consumption of HFCS is the root of obesity, diabetes, cancer, heart disease, dementia, and accelerated aging.

What will be the solution?

Of course stop drinking soda will be the sure solution, but if you can't stop drinking soda, then what is the alternative? The second best solution is drink soda that doesn't contain HFCS. Whole Food sells soda that doesn't contain HFCS (instead it contains real sugar). Or even better, drink water instead of soda if you can.

Remember, Pepsi and Coca Cola companies don't care about your health. Their main concern is to make money. So, be wise and be protective from artificially-produced industrial sugar.
